Once upon a sponge…or rather many, SpongeWho SquareKnit was designed; a stool with dual usage; a stool and a side table. SpongeWho SquareKnit uses the iconic yellow sponge by Scotch-Brite and integrates it into the design of an everyday object in the form of weaving. This overused sponge takes a new form and becomes a pillow/soft absorbent surface for SpongeWho SquareKnit. Additionally, the plywood stool base is all wrapped up in Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pad making it ideal for ‘heavy-duty lifting’ despite its spongy appearance! SpongeWho SquareKnit is inspired by the appearance of traditional weaving, where the iconic sponge is used as the ‘thread.’ Furthermore, the playful furniture piece offers timeless and functional design.
Sponge Who SquareKnit is a prototype stool / side table not only for your kitchen, or your pop/modern living room, but ideal as kids furniture piece as they seem to love the softness of the sponge on an everyday furniture object. SpongeWho SquareKnit was presented by Marcia Argyriades who is a very proud member of the papairlines team at the Once Upon A Sponge exhibition, which opened on Thursday the 10th of May and will last until the 16th of June 2012, at TAF (5 Normanou Str., Monastiraki, Athens * GREECE).
